Why does Target Management keep pushing me to get Red Cards?
I’m a target employee, and everyday Target’s management keeps talking about how they need to get a certain number of people to apply for their "Red Card" credit card. I understand that any company would benefit by having their customers enrolled in their own credit system, but Target’s management team wouldn’t directly see those benefits and shouldn’t care about them much. So can someone enlighten me as to why they push so hard to get their customers to enroll?

Store charge cards traditionally charge exorbitant interest…like 22%…In spite of a large number of defaults, stores make $$$$ off of these cards.

Part of being a manager means pursuing the company’s goals…regardless of any lack of personal gain….Target wants to push these cards on consumers….so the managers have to do what they are told…

Because the management team IS management ,
Which means improving the revenue stream .

The red cards improve their revenue stream .

    Not really rocket science . . .

If it would make your job easier by getting the Target credit card than apply for it. Just because you get the card doesn’t mean you need to use it. Put a small purchase or charity donation (you can decide the amount of a donation) on the card every month. Keeping the credit card active will keep the account open.

The reason why is because every time customers use visa, mastercard, or american express, Target gets charged a fee. They don’t get charged when customers have red cards so it’s a money saver and gainer at the same time. It also builds brand loyalty.
